I’m very happy that my not-so-happy poem “For two boys found dead under Queen Nandi Drive” has been shortlisted for the 2022 National Poetry Prize in South Africa. Thank you to the organisers, New Contrast and Bruce Jack Wines, and good luck to the other listed poets for the final announcement at the end of this month.
Johannesburg launch of A Hibiscus Coast
Good news: I will be in Johannesburg for a couple of days at the end of October 2021. Better news: I'll finally be having an in-person launch for A Hibiscus Coast!
Join my and number one bean Maneo Mohale on Thursday 28 October at Exclusive Books Melrose Arch. Please arrive 18:00 for 18:30.
I will be in Cape Town and Durban for launches in April 2022, fingers crossed.
Due to Covid restrictions, entrance will be limited and RSVP only. Please RSVP to events@exclusivebooks.co.za.
Interview with Africa in Dialogue
I have a new interview up on Africa in Dialogue, here, about home, imperfect storytelling, and my novel A Hibiscus Coast. Thanks to Kris van der Bijl for a fun chat!
“There are the multiple potentials of homes, but how do you realise any one of them? The problem, of course, is that wherever you travel, you have to bring yourself along.“
